Stay, Learn, Grow: An Inspiring Talk by Mr. Pavan Kumar
As part of our ‘Stay, Learn, Grow’ initiative, we had the privilege of welcoming Mr. Pavan Kumar, an alumnus of Gubbalala Government School, to speak with our 6th and 7th graders. Currently pursuing his PhD in [Field] at a prestigious university, Mr. Kumar’s journey is a powerful testament to the impact of perseverance, hard work, and the right guidance. Coming from a background similar to our students, he was the perfect speaker to inspire and motivate them.
Overcoming the Language Barrier
One of the key challenges he addressed was the transition from Kannada-medium to English-medium education. He candidly shared his own struggles in making this shift, emphasizing that while starting earlier is ideal, it is never too late to catch up. Having transitioned to English after 10th grade, he reassured students that with hard work and time management, they too could bridge the gap and excel in their studies.
Motivation and Hard Work: The Key to Success
Mr. Kumar spoke passionately about the sacrifices parents make to provide for their children’s education. He urged students to honor these sacrifices by being 100% focused in class and using their parents’ struggles as motivation to succeed. His advice?
- Be curious—always ask why and why not.
- Never hesitate to ask questions—seek clarity, meet teachers after class, and request help when needed.
- Use teaching as a tool to learn—explaining concepts to others helps cement knowledge.
Giving Back and Taking Advantage of Opportunities
Mr. Kumar expressed deep gratitude towards The Tranquil Charitable Foundation (TCF) for its monetary and academic support, stating that without TCF, his journey would have been much harder. He encouraged students to seize the opportunities provided by HF in collaboration with TCF, emphasizing how such support can change lives.
A Conducive Learning Environment
As an alumnus, Mr. Kumar was delighted to see the enthusiastic participation of our students. He noted the welcoming and encouraging atmosphere at the school and was particularly impressed by the thoughtful questions asked by the students during his session.
A Lasting Message
His final message was clear—work hard, stay curious, and give back when you make it. With dedication and the right mindset, anything is possible. We hope his words continue to resonate with our students, inspiring them to stay, learn, and grow towards a bright future!
