Sambhrama Shanivara
Every third Saturday of the month, a special day called ‘Sambhrama Shanivara’ or ‘Celebration Saturday’ is celebrated. On this day, children are relieved of their school bags, and traditional classes are set aside.
Today, the focus was on ‘Gender Equality.’
The Headmaster delivered a concise speech, mindful of the children’s attention spans. He emphasized the importance of gender equality and revisited the inclusivity lessons discussed the previous month.
An interactive session followed, where both girls and boys shared their responsibilities at home. Witnessing the extent of their domestic duties was both saddening and eye-opening. It became evident that these lessons in gender equality were indeed necessary for these young minds.
The children then sang a group song on the subject with touching lyrics. The program continued with brief portrayals of eminent women figures. The day’s events culminated in a captivating drama.
Remarkably, the teachers and children were informed of the topic only two days prior. Yet, both groups rose admirably to the occasion, orchestrating activities that poignantly underscored the essence of gender equality.
