Konunkunte Government School Project

Partnering with CWF(Care Works Foundation) the CSR arm of Quess Corp.( http://quesscorp.com/care-works/) our next school project at the Konankunte Government School started off with great enthusiasm on the Saturday of June 23rd, 2018. CWF was working with schools to give a holistic development. We thought it would be a great idea to partner with them since after they complete their civil work and base painting we could do our wall murals involving the children. Thus the children would have a sense of belonging and a personalized space. Volunteers gathered to conduct an art activity for the kids of 6th, 7th and 8th grades.

Based on ideas from the children’s drawings from the art activity, picturesque murals began to take shape. A special mention for our little student volunteers who helped us with great enthusiasm. Nothing like a bright sunny day to keep the spirits up!

The beautiful stage in the middle of the ground was very inviting for some Warli art. Our volunteers immediately took off to it.

The teachers of Nalikali requested for Kannada alphabets in front of their classrooms. Though it was beyond our ideals to stick to a nature concept and not introduce curriculum once again, Madhura immediately accommodated it with a bouquet of flowers.

One interesting drawing by a 7th grade kid depicting pollution in mother Earth caught our attention. We got him to paint it on the wall so everyone could relate to it.

We involved the smaller kids with some hand-printing on the walls. They all enjoyed dipping their hands in different colours and having their hand-print on the school wall.

Some drawings which really came to life

The children were happy to see their drawings on their school walls. We gathered on a special assembly to narrate to the children what we have captured on the walls. We made a special mention of all the children whose drawings we had selected. It was a gratifying moment when the children could identify with their drawings on the school walls. It was a memory to be cherished for long.
