Ghost in the Park: An Audiovisual Journey by Hongirana at Ganigarapalya School
The audio-visual story, Ghost in the Park, an original production by the Hongirana Foundation team was presented to the 5th standard students of Gangigarapalya Government School. This was the first time the story was shown to a live audience of children.
The students were excited to be seated in the room newly equipped with an overhead projector, computers, and a large white screen for such audio-visual presentations. This was also the first time that all the equipment was used. The story is available in Kannada and English audio at the foundation’s YouTube channel @hongiranafoundation.
First, the story video with the Kannada audio was played. Students watched it engrossed and quietly. They were then asked to retell the story in their own words to see if they understood the plot well and absorbed all the information included in it. Following that, there was a short Q&A session with the teachers which the students enthusiastically participated. The English audio version of the story was then played. Since the story was familiar to the students, they could follow it easily and learn some English words and sentences.
Overall, it was an enriching experience for the 10-year-old Kannada medium students, the target demographic for this audio visual story.
