A Celebration of Learning: The Art & Science Mela
On January 30th, alongside the government-mandated Parent-Teacher Meeting, HF, in collaboration with the school management, orchestrated a lively Art & Science Mela for the children. The event was designed not only to celebrate learning in an engaging and enjoyable manner but also to provide parents with a firsthand experience of their children’s educational journey.
The highlight of the event was the exhibition of artwork and decorations created entirely by the students. The school premises transformed into a lively hub of creativity, with stalls featuring learning-themed games in math, science, and language, alongside interactive art stations where participants could make cards, pottery items, and toys. Adding a nostalgic touch, a postbox was set up where children and parents could send postcards to loved ones.
A special thanks goes to The Valley School and senior teacher Nalini Aunty for their generous contributions of decorative art pieces, including beautifully crafted wooden birds, buntings, and large elephant sculptures, which gave the space an inviting and festive look.
The government school teachers, along with enthusiastic students from grades 6 and 7, set up splendid displays and interactive games based on math and science concepts. The atmosphere was a perfect blend of learning and festivity, fostering curiosity and engagement.
What truly stood out was the active participation of parents. A large number of them took time out of their busy schedules to attend the meeting and engage in discussions on important topics led by the Head Master and teachers—ranging from the significance of attendance and study habits at home to administrative aspects like Aadhaar updates.
As the stalls and displays opened up, parents eagerly participated in the various activities their children had organized. The fun continued with additional games like musical chairs, arranged by the teachers, bringing joy to both children and adults alike.
A heartfelt thanks to artists Deepak and Ramya Devi for their incredible support in decorating and capturing the event through photography. We also deeply appreciate Mr. Srinivas and Mrs. Akhila from TCF for their presence and enthusiasm, which added to the event’s success.
This memorable event was made possible by the dedicated HF volunteers who worked tirelessly for a week, planning and engaging with the children. It was a true collaboration between the government school teachers and the HF team, ensuring a successful and joyous day for all.
